KUALA LUMPUR (July 8): RAM Rating Services Bhd has appointed Julie Ng as its deputy chief executive officer (CEO) and Siew Suet Ming as its chief rating officer effective July 1.

In a statement today, RAM said Ng has 26 years of experience in credit risk management and data analytics, having held several key positions throughout her career at RAM, most recently heading RAM Ratings’ data analytics and risk consulting divisions.

“She has considerable expertise in corporate and financial analysis, credit risk modelling, Basel advisory, regional bond market research, product development and SME initiatives and has helmed numerous capital market consultancies in the ASEAN region. As deputy chief executive officer, Ng is tasked with overseeing RAM’s business operations and spearheading the group’s new business growth and diversification,” it added.

Meanwhile, formerly RAM Ratings’ technical director, Siew has more than 20 years of experience managing various rating portfolios.

RAM said Siew is the architect behind the group’s default and rating transition studies, and has led technical and credit criteria development for RAM Ratings.

“With extensive experience in rating structured transactions, Siew has a wealth of knowledge in evaluating new asset classes, including sukuk ratings — many of which were ‘firsts’ of their kind globally and in the region. She will also spearhead Islamic Finance initiatives for the group,” it added.

In the statement, RAM’s group CEO Chris Lee noted: “The Covid-19 pandemic has permanently altered the landscape for RAM. We see a new world of opportunities where we can reinvent and well position our businesses in the new era. Both Julie and Suet Ming have more than two decades of credit rating experience and are ready to take RAM to the next level. The two senior appointments come at an apt time, placing the group in a position of strength as we embrace technologies and opportunities in growing our businesses.
