KUALA LUMPUR (July 8): Quek Kon Sean, the youngest son of tycoon Tan Sri Quek Leng Chan is going to assume a new position in the Hong Leong Group.
Filings with Bursa Malaysia today revealed that the Kon Sean, 36, had resigned as a non-executive director in Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (HLFG) and Hong Leong Capital Bhd with effect from July 9, 2016.
The reason given for the resignation of both positions is that he will be assuming a new position within the Hong Leong group.
Kon Sean was appointed to the board of HLFG on Dec 1, 2005, and to the board of Hong Leong Capital on Feb 28, 2006. He is currently the managing director for the Centre for Business Value of HL Management Co Sdn Bhd.
HLFG was among the top gainers on Bursa Malaysia today, and closed up 42 sen (2.8%) to RM15.30 for a market capitalisation of RM17.34 billion.
Trading in Hong Leong Capital has been suspended as the public shareholding spread of the company as at March 31, 2016 stood at 18.67%, below the 25% requirement.
