KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 22): Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB)'s wholly-owned subsidiary Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB) today announced an income distribution of 6.75 sen per unit with a bonus of 0.5 sen per unit for its flagship fund Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2016.

ASNB also declared an income distribution of 5 sen per unit for its first variable-price fund, Amanah Saham Nasional (ASN), for the same financial period.

PNB said ASB's performance exceeded that of the Malaysian stock market FBM KLCI, which recorded a third consecutive year of negative decline — registering total shareholder return of -1.7% after taking into account dividend payments.

ASB's 9 million unitholders will receive total income distribution of RM9.78 billion and a bonus distribution of RM500.4 million.

"Going forward, although PNB expects that 2017 will be another uncertain year, PNB sees sufficient grounds for cautious optimism. With the implementation of its six-year Strategic Plan, PNB will continue to strive to deliver sustainable and competitive returns for its unitholders," said its group chairman Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar at the income distribution announcement today.
