THE Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards has been the epitome of Chinese filmmaking’s greatest achievements since 1962. China’s version of Hollywood’s Academy Awards was first created to boost the industry of making Chinese films by providing support and encouragement to filmmakers in the region. Every year, any film made primarily in Chinese is eligible to compete for the award, although through the decades, the Hong Kong film industry has dominated the top prizes.

This year, Swiss jeweller and watchmaker Piaget partnered the prestigious event to present the Golden Horse Awards – Time of Glory project. Each year, the project creates timeless images for the nominees of Best Director, Best Leading Actor and Best Leading Actress, documenting the splendid moments of Chinese-language films.

For 2015, the theme of the project was The Filming Set, which saw famous directors from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan work hand-in-hand to lead the audience into the behind-the-scenes world of Chinese cinema and help preserve the happenings, big or small, on a filming set. Accented with Piaget watches and jewellery, each photo produced by the project has become an unforgettable memory for the nominees.

With this theme, the project on the filming set brought the nominees back to where they came from: expressing their passion and persistence for the big screen. The project offered the audience a look into the world beyond movie frames, where film workers laugh and sweat behind the scenes, capturing the moments that are irreplaceable and precious. All the award nominees were styled by Harrison Lo, and their pictures were taken by the celebrated Hong Kong photography team, Secret 9 at various iconic landmarks across Taipei, Hong Kong and Beijing.

In addition to sponsoring the Film Independent Spirit Awards and the Hong Kong Film Awards, this year marks the third year of Piaget’s premier sponsorship of the Golden Horse Awards.
