KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 3): National oil company Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) is reportedly considering oil and gas exploration projects in Bolivia.
Global energy and commodity market business intelligence provider Argus Media last week cited Bolivian state-owned enterprise Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) as saying both companies' presidents met in Brazil during the Rio Oil and Gas conference, which was held from Sept 26 to 29 in Rio de Janeiro.
The meeting was part of the company's efforts to attract international partnerships, YPFB president Armin Dorgathen Tapia was quoted as saying.
Argus said Tapia met with oil and gas executives during the event, with a focus on natural gas-related investments and other areas.
Bolivia had a US$142 million (RM660.1 million) hydrocarbon trade surplus from January to August, due to high international crude prices.
Natural gas export prices rose by up to 25% during that time.
