KUALA LUMPUR (June 15): Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd has appointed German-based Rosen Group to provide detailed fitness for service assessments of its pipelines in Sarawak and Sabah.

The scope of the two-year contract, with a one-year extension option, includes accessing part of 260 pipelines, with diameters ranging from four to 48 inches, located mainly offshore, said Rosen.

"Rosen will deliver detailed written fitness for service reports for many of these pipelines identifying required actions to ensure such assets continue to be operated safely under current and future demands," it said in a statement.

The contract includes free span assessments, high level corrosion management plan updates, remaining life evaluations and risk assessments, it added.

"With 150 Rosen specialists in pipeline integrity, we have the largest, most experienced team in the industry, and we are confident that we can deliver to the high standards and short timescales that Petronas Carigali expects," said Rosen group business line manager for integrity services Roland Palmer.

Rosen, established in 1981 in Lower Saxony, Germany, operates in 120 countries with more than 2,700 employees.
