KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 8): Integrated property developer OCR Group Bhd (OCR) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Plytec Holding Sdn Bhd (Plytec) to use advanced technologies in selected OCR projects.

In a statement Wednesday (Dec 8), OCR said it will utilise Plytec Formwork Sdn Bhd’s self-climbing platform (SCP) technology in the construction of YOLO Signature Suites in Bandar Sunway, Selangor.

YOLO Signature Suites feature small office-home office (SOHO) suites of 440 to 1,018 sq ft within the thriving Bandar Sunway vicinity, complete with educational and recreational amenities in the vicinity.

The development is slated for completion in 2023.

OCR said the SCP technology is a protective screen with a controlled and synchronised climbing mechanism that prevents workers and objects from falling when working at a height.

Requiring only one-time installation at low level, it is a more robust system compared to typical scaffolding and falsework systems.

OCR managing director Billy Ong Kah Hoe said the utilisation of these industry-leading technologies reinforces OCR Group’s pledge of being ahead of the curve and voluntarily adopting innovative systems, “as long as they ultimately bring value to the primary audience of our buyers”.

“As part of our larger Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) endeavour, we wish to create a safer working environment for our workers on-site.

“The self-climbing platform is one of the methods towards that goal, in addition to our current Standard Operating Procedures under the COVID-19 protocols,” he said.

At 11.30am on Wednesday, OCR was flat at 15.5 sen, valuing it at RM105.56 million.
