KUALA LUMPUR (July 7): Nurul A'in Abdul Latif has been appointed as PwC Malaysia's new deputy executive chair effective July 1, the company said, adding that she will succeed executive chairman Datuk Mohammad Faiz Azmi upon his retirement in 2023.

Prior to her appointment, Nurul served as PwC Malaysia's markets leader for six years since July 2016.

In a statement on Thursday (July 7), Nurul highlighted her commitment to deliver the firm’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments after taking up the role.

“With the call for greater sustainability becoming an urgent priority, not only for businesses but the wider community, trust will underpin our efforts to deliver on our ESG commitments.

“As part of living PwC’s purpose — to build trust in society and solve important problems — I hope to continue engaging with our clients, our people and our wider stakeholders on the role we all play to secure a sustainable future.

“I look forward to working alongside Datuk Faiz and the rest of the leadership team in shaping this future,” she said.

Faiz said he is confident that Nurul’s extensive working experience across the spectrum of the firm’s clients, from the federal and state governments, public interest entities as well as non-governmental organisations, will be key to PwC Malaysia’s future growth.

“She will also be an excellent role model to our profession as our first female executive chair of the firm,” he said.

Nurul has over 25 years of experience working with large public-listed companies locally on audit and business advisory matters, as well as cross-border clients with a two-year stint in the United Kingdom.

Mandarin-speaking Nurul also currently serves as a council member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

PwC Malaysia said it has grown its service offerings to meet the rising demand for digital services, bridge the widening global skills gap and advance the local and regional sustainability landscape while under Nurul’s leadership.
