KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 27): New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd (NSTP) group managing editor Datuk Abdul Jalil Abdul Hamid has been appointed as its chief executive officer with effect from March 1.
He replaces Datuk Mohammad Azlan Abdullah, who will resign from his post with effect from Feb 28, according to a filing with Bursa Malaysia by NSTP’s parent company, Media Prima Bhd.
The Edge weekly, released today, reported Azlan is among those in the running for the post of CEO at Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas), the highway operator wholly-owned by Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB).
“Azlan is tipped to join a PNB-linked company after his stint at NSTP, and the highway business is not new to him,” the publication quoted a source as saying.
Abdul Jalil has been the group managing editor of NSTP since 2011. He has more than 25 years’ experience as a journalist, including an 18-year stint as a foreign correspondent and a deputy bureau chief with global news company, Reuters.
Abdul Jalil, who is a mass communications graduate from from UiTM, had also worked at national news agency Bernama, as well as with the Securities Commission.
