The Nestlé Malaysia team is excited to be back again this year as it gave a good showing in its first appearance at last year’s The Edge Kuala Lumpur Rat Race where it finished second in the Mixed category.

This year, the team has promised to make a stronger appearance.

Chong Min Yen, from the company’s technical and production department, said she is excited to be able to participate in the race for the second time.

“We are looking forward to challenging ourselves to do better than last year. Apart from that, we also hope the amount raised from the run will benefit more charities,” said Chong.

The team is proud to represent Nestlé Malaysia, a company that supports the creation of a healthy community.

Ng Su Yen, business executive officer from the milks business unit, said: “Running for charity is an excellent concept as it allows us to give back to society while leading a healthy lifestyle. What is great about this is that it is also in line with what we strongly believe in at Nestlé, which is enhancing the quality of life and contributing to a healthier future.”

Nestlé Malaysia believes business is intrinsic to society, so for the company to do well, it needs to ensure that it does good for society, said Ng, who is running in the CEO (chief executive officer)category for the first time.

According to her, the group’s commitment is known as “Creating Shared Value”, a strategy tool to manage and operationalise all its actions to ensure that they create value for its shareholders and society.

Some of the key initiatives by Nestlé Malaysia are Nestlé Healthy Kids — a programme that has reached out to 17,000 students since 2010, in partnership with the ministry of  education, to improve knowledge of nutrition and encourage a healthier lifestyle.  The 1 Murid 1 Sukan programme, which encourages schoolchildren to have an active lifestyle,  has reached out to 1.96 million children.

Ng said she is honoured to represent Nestlé Malaysia in the race. “Everyone is a winner in this race just by participating.”
