KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 17): Employee Provident Fund's (EPF) deputy chief executive officer (Investment) Datuk Mohamad Nasir Ab Latif (pictured) will be retiring from his position upon the expiry of his contract at the end of this month, according to a source with knowledge of the matter.

The departure would mark an end to Nasir's 37-year journey with the pension fund. It follows the completion of a one-year extension of his contract from Nov 14, 2018 to Dec 31 this year.

The extension, according to a statement at the time, was "to ensure continuity in the EPF's investment division and enable a smooth succession plan".

Nasir's position will be succeeded by someone within EPF itself, the source said. The official announcement is expected to be made by end-December. EPF has not responded to a query by theedgemarkets.com.

Nasir's career in EPF started in 1982, and he held several positions before he was appointed deputy CEO for the investment division since April 15, 2013.

He currently sits on the board of Sime Darby Plantation Bhd, PLUS Malaysia Bhd, Yinson Holdings Bhd, BBCC Development Sdn Bhd, the Battersea Project Co Ltd and Yarra Park City Pty Ltd.

In EPF, Nasir has held positions as state enforcement officer (1990-1995), senior research officer, manager and senior manager in the investment and Economics Research Department (1995-2003) and general manager of the International Equity Investment Department (2009-2013).

Nasir graduated with a Bachelor in Social Science (Economics) from Universiti Sains Malaysia and obtained a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in 1996. He also holds a Master of Science in Investment Analysis from the University of Stirling, United Kingdom (1999).
