KUALA LUMPUR (May 5): Naim Holdings has received payment claims from two sub-contractors, namely Isogress Construction Sdn Bhd (Isogress) and H&K Engineering Sdn Bhd (H&K), for a total of RM34.21 million.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Naim said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Naim Engineering Sdn Bhd (NESB) has received payment claims under the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA) from the two sub-contractors for the contracts awarded to them.

On April 25, Isogress had issued three separate payment claims totalling RM29.6 million allegedly due under three sub-contract works awarded in 2013 for a total contract value of RM50.78 million.

“NESB is instituting a counterclaim of RM45 million against Isogress,” Naim added.

Meanwhile, on April 20, H&K had issued one payment claim for RM4.61 million allegedly due under the RM4.06 million sub-contract work awarded in 2014.

“Naim is of the opinion that the payment claims are baseless and frivolous and has instructed its solicitors to vigorously contest the matter to defend its interest,” said the company, adding that it will make the relevant announcements in due course.
