KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 1): Former Bloomberg TV Malaysia chief executive officer (CEO) Michael Chan has been appointed the new CEO of MYTV Broadcasting Sdn Bhd, effective today.
In a statement today, MYTV said 47-year-old Chan will be taking over from Datuk Hasnul Hassan, whose tenure ended yesterday.
Chan has 20 years of experience in the broadcasting and telecommunications industry and has held key positions in the areas of marketing and management, said MYTV.
"In a previous role at Maxis, he successfully launched several high profile sports marketing events by working closely with FIFA for the World Cup and FAPL for the Barclays Premier League.
"He has also managed key local, regional and global alliances and partnerships with international conglomerates including Apple, Motorola and Microsoft," it added.
MYTV was appointed by the Malaysia government to develop and operate the infrastructure and network facilities for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) services in order to migrate the national broadcasting system from analogue to digital by 2018.
Currently, MYTV's DTT covers around 80% of the country's populated areas and will increase to 98% by 2018.
