KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 19): MY EG Services Bhd (MyEG) has launched an online portal, SafeQ, which offers an array of hotel accommodation and amenity options available to low-risk Covid-19 patients who wish to undergo mandatory quarantine requirements in more comfortable settings.
In a statement to Bursa Malaysia, the group said the portal provides a selection of hotel accommodations of varying categories, ranging from three-star to five-star facilities to cater to all budgets.
MyEG explained that low-risk Covid-19 patients who prefer not to undergo quarantine at home or at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) have the option of staying at any of the participating hotels through www.safeq.com.my.
"Eligibility of individuals to undergo quarantine at any of the available hotels would be subject to verification by MyEG with health authorities. As safety and health of all stakeholders are of utmost importance, the prescribed standard operating procedures will be strictly adhered to at all times, with government personnel stationed at all the approved hotels to ensure full compliance.
"Optional services such as Covid-19 swab tests, transportation to the hotels and other amenities aimed at providing a more comfortable, safe and convenient quarantine stay are also available on the portal," said MyEG.
It said the Saujana Hotel and Silka Cheras are the first few hotels now available on the SafeQ portal that offer premium services and amenities at prices starting from RM70 per pax for twin sharing at Silka, and at RM350 per night for a spacious suite at Saujana.
"More hotel options will be progressively added to the portal in the coming days. There are also numerous options for patients who intend to seek more luxurious accommodations at upscale participating hotels," the group noted.
The group is of the view that the portal's introduction is timely, as it provides a wider selection of quarantine stay options for Covid-19 patients while helping ease the strain on public healthcare and quarantine facilities, due to the surge in Covid-19 infections in the country.
"In the wake of the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, MyEG has leveraged its strengths and expertise as a leading digital services provider in the region to introduce a variety of innovative offerings, guided by an overarching vision to provide a holistic solution to help in the fight against Covid-19.
"These initiatives include the introduction of an at-home, saliva-based test service in the Philippines, which was also unveiled recently.
"Other initiatives undertaken by MyEG include a cooperation with Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co, Ltd to conduct Phase 3 trials, obtain Halal certification and distribute Chinese company's vaccine in Malaysia, the provision of MySafeTravel, a digital health pass system to facilitate inbound travellers' adherence to mandatory Covid-19 testing and quarantine requirements, as well as the provision of a one-stop portal for the screening of workers in the country," it added.
Shares of MyEG settled one sen or 0.47% lower at RM2.14 today, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM7.86 billion. It saw some 16.92 million shares traded.
