KUALA LUMPUR (May 31): Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir has resigned today as the executive chairman of Opcom Holdings Bhd.

The 58-year-old announced in an exchange filing that his retirement, effective tomorrow, is due to "personal reasons".

Mokhzani, who is the second son of the Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was appointed to Opcom's board ten years ago.

Separately, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, who is brother to Mokhzani and a major shareholder in Opcom, disposed of 2.57 million Opcom shares, trimming his direct stake in the fibre optic cable company to 21.685% as at today.

Mukhriz is also presently Menteri Besar of Kedah and deputy president of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Shares in Opcom closed one sen or 1.67% lower today at 59 sen. At its current price, Opcom is valued at RM95.14 million.
