KUALA LUMPUR (June 3): Apart from resigning from his position as the executive chairman of Opcom Holdings Bhd last Friday, Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir had also simultaneously relinquished all his positions in the company and its subsidiaries.
“The company wishes to clarify that Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir had also simultaneously relinquished all his positions in the company and its subsidiaries,” said Opcom in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.
The 58-year-old announced in an exchange filing that his retirement, effective June 1, was due to "personal reasons".
Mokhzani, who is the second son of the Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was appointed to Opcom's board 10 years ago.
Shares of Opcom were down five sen or 8.47% to close at 54 sen today, bringing its market capitalisation to RM87.08 million. Over the past year, the counter has fallen 39% from 88 sen.
However, it is interesting to note that the stock price was as low as 32 sen last year, prior to the 14th General Election.
