KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 22): Special Functions Minister Datuk Abdul Latiff Ahmad has denied that a woman named Zainab Mohd Salleh identified by PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli in his latest littoral combat ship (LCS) exposé is his wife.

In a brief statement in the wake of Rafizi's explosive revelation earlier on Monday (Aug 22), Abdul Latiff in a statement denied that Zainab was his spouse as stated by Rafizi.

"As a Cabinet member, I am prepared to fully cooperate should the authorities wish to investigate further," he said.

Rafizi had named Zainab as the second wife of Abdul Latiff Ahmad, who was then deputy defence minister, as the owner of Alizes Marine Ltd.

The company was also named in the Panama Papers as well as the Paradise Papers, which disclose how offshore companies hide money from illegal activities around the world.

In a statement on Monday, the former Pandan MP also said Zainab was a shareholder in offshore firm Intralogistics Ltd, which in turn has a stake in Alizes Marine Labuan.

Rafizi said the governance, procurement and finance investigation committee’s report into the LCS embezzlement scandal had clearly shown the involvement of the Alizes Marine companies.
