KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 14): Melewar Industrial Group Bhd surged as much as eight sen or 15% after Bursa Malaysia queried the steel-pipe manufacturer on its recent share price and volume rise.
Today, Melewar shares rose to their highest at 62 sen. At 11:33 a.m., the stock pared gains at 59.5 sen, for a market value of RM134.18 million.
The second most active counter on Bursa Malaysia saw some 34 million shares traded.
Yesterday, Bursa Malaysia issued an unusual market activity (UMA) query on the recent rise in Melewar's share price and trading volume.
Last Thursday (Sept 8), Melewar shares closed at 38 sen, before rising to 54 sen yesterday.
Today, Melewar had yet to respond to the UMA query at the time of writing.
