KUALA LUMPUR (May 19): Measat Global Bhd is expecting to see a RM70 million contribution from its soon-to-be-launched Measat 3b.

The direct-to-home (DTH) broadcast satellite, which is worth US$350 million, is expected to be launched on May 29 in French Guiana.

Speaking at a media briefing, Measat Satellite System Sdn Bhd's CEO Paul I. Brown-Kenyon said that prior to the launch, Measat 3b had already seen a 50% take up rate.

"For Measat 3b, we have already signed two long term contracts ranging from 10 years to 15 years," he said.

The contracts were signed by Astro's Measat Broadcast Network System and Australian-based Newsat.  

Currently, Measat's satellite offers services ranging from telecommunition, broadcasting to broadband.
