KUALA LUMPUR (April 21): In a rare move, Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) said customers can withdraw quality RM10 and RM50 banknotes at 70 selected Maybank automated teller machines (ATMs) across Malaysia from Thursday (April 21, 2022) until May 4, 2022 in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which falls in early May 2022.
A statement on Maybank's website said the list of branches where these special ATMs are located include Maybank's KL Main and Bangsar Baru branches here (Kuala Lumpur) besides the Sungai Buloh and Subang Jaya outlets in Selangor.
Meanwhile, Maybank's Sabah branches where these selected ATMs are located include the Jalan Perpaduan Kota Kinabalu and Lintas Square outlets, according to Maybank.
In Sarawak, the selected ATMs can be found at four Maybank outlets including the Kuching Main and Wisma Satok branches.
"Dear valued customers, this Hari Raya Aidilfitri, conveniently withdraw RM10 & RM50 notes at selected Maybank ATMs nationwide, from April 21, 2022 until May 4, 2022.
"ATMs that can dispense RM10 and RM50 notes will be labelled, for ease of finding.
"Alternatively, you may also send e-Duit Raya to your family and friends via the MAE app this festive season," Maybank said.
In Malaysia, dispensing quality banknotes via ATMs to customers for festive seasons such as Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri is deemed a rare occasion as these quality banknotes are usually dispensed to customers in person by bank officials at the bank outlets.
At Bursa Malaysia's 12.30pm break on Thursday (April 21, 2022), Maybank's share price rose 10 sen or 1.14% to RM8.90 for a market capitalisation of about RM106.53 billion.
Maybank's latest-reported number of outstanding shares stood at 11.97 billion, according to the banking group's Bursa filing on Friday (April 15, 2022).
