KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 31): Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) has appointed Ir Dr Mohd Shahreen Zainooreen B. Madros as its new chief executive officer (CEO) following the retirement of Datuk Dzulkifli Mahmud.

Shahreen, who was previously an executive director at Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corp (MPRC), will assume the new responsibility from Feb 2, 2017, MATRADE said in a statement today.

"Moving forward, it is imperative for MATRADE to continue forging strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders in both the public and private sector," Shahreen said in the statement.

He added that this move would ensure Malaysia remains competitive at the global front as such partnerships would have a direct influence to the local business community.

Shahreen is upbeat on the appointment and aspires to continue strengthening MATRADE's position as Malaysia's export promotion agency, the statement said.

He will be the seventh CEO of MATRADE, which comes under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).
