KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 7): Maruss Sdn Bhd has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Indonesian firm PT Pindad to mutually pursue business opportunities.

The MOU was signed on Nov 3 at the Indo Defence 2022 Expo & Forum, said Maruss in a statement on Monday (Nov 7).

Maruss is a specialised manufacturer of small arms ammunition and weapons operating as a licensed manufacturing company in Malaysia, while Pindad is a leading defence equipment manufacturer in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

The companies will pursue opportunities that include contract manufacturing of complete small arms and ammunition, provision of technical expertise, supporting Maruss for other calibre of ammunition, and expansion of potential markets for Pindad's products such as small arms, pyrotechnics, large calibre and demolition items.

The joint collaboration will enable both companies to mutually support each other's manufacturing requirements in terms of complete products and also components.

Pindad president Abraham Moses said: "I am pleased that we have found a potential partner in Maruss to enable Pindad to capitalise on its expertise in the manufacturing of small arms ammunitions with a young SAA [small arms ammunition] manufacturing company, as well as widening our footprint into Malaysia and the Asean region."

Meanwhile, Maruss managing director Syafiq Md Razi said it is an opportunity for a new company like theirs specialising in the manufacture of small arms ammunition and also weapons to maximise all avenues of collaboration.
