KUALA LUMPUR (April 28): Manulife Asset Management Services Bhd chief investment officer Jason Chong has been promoted to chief executive officer (CEO) of the company from May 1, replacing Wong Boon Choy who will take on the role of advisor.
As CEO, Chong will oversee the growth and development of Manulife Asset Management’s integrated wealth and asset management business, reporting directly to Manulife chief operating officer of wealth and asset management for Asia Gianni Fiacco and locally to Manulife Holdings Bhd group CEO and executive director Mark O’Dell.
In a statement today, Manulife Asset Management said with over two decades of capital markets experience, Chong joined the company in 2010 and joined the board in 2012.
"In his time with Manulife, he has led the asset management organisation, including the equity, fixed income, and multi-asset, as well as other business functions such as operations, compliance and product development investment teams," it added.
“We are confident that Chong will continue to build and grow our multi-channel distribution, marrying investment excellence with holistic and enduring customer and partnership relationships across a wide array of wealth management solutions, including unit trust, private retirement schemes and investment-linked insurance solutions,” said O’Dell.
Meanwhile, Wong will remain a member of the board to support Manulife Asset Management’s growth plans.
