KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 21): Malaysia's inflation, measured by the consumer price index, rose 2.8 percent in October from a year earlier reflecting higher fuel prices after the government cut subsidies early in the month, data from the Statistics Department showed on Friday.

A Reuters poll of 15 economists had forecast an annual inflation rate of 3.1 percent. The October inflation rate accelerated from 2.6 percent in September.
Economists expect inflation to edge higher as the government continues with its subsidy rationalisation programme next year and the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) in April 2015.
