KUALA LUMPUR (July 12): Malaysia’s Covid-19 daily vaccination rate dropped to 291,217 yesterday (July 11) — the lowest in one week — after delivering over 300,000 daily doses previously.
Of this, 190,186 individuals received their first dose while another 101,031 were given their second dose, according to tweets by the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).
Selangor delivered the highest daily number of first doses on Sunday at 50,607, followed by Kuala Lumpur (29,420) and Sarawak (20,246).
For second doses, Sarawak administered the highest daily shots at 36,279, followed by Kuala Lumpur (19,576) and Selangor (12,436).
To date, a total of 11.37 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine had been administered, of which 7.84 million were first doses while 3.53 million were second doses.
At least 23.96% of the country's population had received their first dose, while 10.78% were fully inoculated.

Among the states and federal territories, Selangor reported the highest cumulative number of first doses administered at 1.5 million, followed by Kuala Lumpur at 1.4 million and Sarawak (1.38 million).
For second doses, Sarawak led with the highest cumulative number of shots administered at 556,871, followed by Selangor (497,708) and Kuala Lumpur (358,619).
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday said the country’s daily vaccination rate exceeds the world average for daily vaccinations per capita.
This, he said, is because daily vaccination now has consistently reached 250,000 jabs.
According to him, this latest development will enable the country to achieve herd immunity in the near future and, subsequently, return to normalcy.
Malaysia reported 9,105 Covid-19 infections on Sunday — the third consecutive day above the 9,000 level — raising the cumulative total to 836,296.
Consequently, active Covid-19 cases rose further to 87,841, as daily recoveries at 5,194 were well below the new infections.
Selangor continued to account for the highest number of new cases at 4,682 — a new record-high for the state — bringing total cases to 286,352. This was followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,247), Negeri Sembilan (541) and Johor (392).
