KUALA LUMPUR (June 22): Malaysia recorded 15 new Covid-19 cases today, of which 13 were local transmissions among non-citizens, while two were imported cases involving Malaysians, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Its health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 12 cases were detected from Pedas cluster in Negeri Sembilan, while another was found through pre-surgery screening in Selayang Hospital, Selangor.

Thus, the number of cumulative cases in the country increased to 8,587, he said in his daily statement.

Active cases in Malaysia fell again to 289 — a figure previously reported on June 20 — with patients already isolated and given treatment in hospitals.

Only two patients were treated in intensive care unit today, from three yesterday.

Meanwhile, 21 patients were discharged today, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 8,177, representing 95.2% of total cumulative cases.

No new deaths were reported today, thus the death toll from the virus was maintained at 121.

This translated into a mortality rate of 1.41% of overall cases.
