KUALA LUMPUR (June 20): Malaysia Airlines Bhd, which is looking at a one-to-one replacement on its existing 21 Airbus A330 aircraft, said the company does not have have any Boeing 777X orders, hence it will not be impacted by the delivery delay for the Boeing 777X aircraft.

"We do not have any 777X on order, hence are not impacted by the [Boeing 777X] delivery delays," Malaysia Airlines said in a statement in response to enquiries by theedgemarkets.com.

On Sunday (June 19), Reuters reported that Malaysia Airlines plans to announce a decision on replacing its fleet of 21 Airbus A330 widebodies with more fuel-efficient new-generation planes around mid- to late July.

"We are in a late stage of the process. We are looking at one-to-one replacement on our A330 fleet," Malaysia Airlines chief executive Captain Izham Ismail told Reuters on the sidelines of airline industry body IATA's annual meeting in Qatar.

In April 2022, news reports, quoting Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun, stated that it will delay the delivery of its first giant 777X jet by at least a year to 2025.

It was reported that Boeing will pause the 777X production within the US city of Everett through the end of next year (2023) to avoid building up more inventory although no jobs will be lost as a result.

Everett is a city within the US state of Washington.
