KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 21): Property developer Mah Sing Group Bhd's Icon City project in Petaling Jaya has won three awards at the Construction Industry Development Board's (CIDB) QLASSIC (Quality Assessment System in Construction) Day 2017 awards ceremony today.
In a statement, Mah Sing said Icon City was awarded Best QLASSIC Achievement Awards 2017 for the residential (large over RM100 million) category, as well as 2 High QLASSIC Achievement Awards 2017 for its Tower 1 and Tower 3A.
Mah Sing group managing director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum said the awards are a testament to the group’s efforts in successfully delivering high-quality properties.
QLASSIC is a system or method to measure and evaluate the workmanship quality of a building construction work based on established construction standards. Scorings were given based on the first inspection that was carried out.
Rectification and correction carried out after the assessment will not be rescored as the board encourages "doing things right the first time and every time". "All winning projects have the QLASSIC score of more than 80%," Mah Sing said.
The 20-acre mixed integrated development, located between the established neighbourhoods of Damansara, Bandar Sunway, Kelana Jaya, Subang Jaya and Petaling Jaya, has an estimated gross development value of RM3.2 billion.
Icon City is accessible via an extensive network of highways and public transportation. Among some of its key features are seven-storey and eight-storey shop offices, four-storey retail shops, two towers of serviced suites, two towers of small-office-virtual-offices, and one tower of The Volt (MSC Building).
"Phase Two of Icon City is currently in the planning stage with the upcoming launch in the near future," said Mah Sing.
Mah Sing shares closed two sen or 1.29% higher at RM1.57, for a market capitalisation of RM3.76 billion.
