PETALING JAYA (Aug 12): Mah Sing Foundation (MSF) donated five units of patient monitoring equipment worth RM33,000 to the Department of Haematology, Hospital Ampang, Selangor to support the hospital in tackling the spike in the numbers of Covid-19 cases.
Mah Sing founder and group managing director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum said: “This is one of the many significant contributions by the Foundation in combating the Covid-19 pandemic, in line with its aim to create long-term and sustainable impacts in the community.”
The patient monitoring equipment monitors the patient’s vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, the oxygen level in blood and others. In critical cases of Covid-19, the equipment is necessary to observe and assess a patient’s care and physiological functions such as the heart and respiratory rate.
According to Consultant Haematologist in Hospital Ampang Dr. Ong Tee Chuan: “The availability of the equipment to closely monitor patients is very vital, as some patients infected with Covid-19 can be very ill, especially for patients with underlying blood cancers. We thank Mah Sing Foundation for generously sponsoring five units of multi-parameters patient monitors to our Covid-19 ward, which is definitely a big help in monitoring and treating the sick patients better.”
Mah Sing Foundation’s Chairman Datuk Indera Syed Norulzaman Syed Kamarulzaman said: “We were approached by Dr. Ong Tee Chuan and decided to make this contribution. It was brought to our attention that Hospital Ampang is in urgent need of patient monitoring equipment to treat patients, amid the critical Covid-19 situation. We hope our contribution will provide the much-needed assistance to our frontliners in ensuring that patients have timely access to life-saving care and treatment.”
Meanwhile, in support of the Government’s efforts to vaccinate the country’s population, Mah Sing Foundation also completed the second dose of vaccination for 2,000 people through a vaccination drive last week. The vaccination drive is part of a mobile vaccination programme initiated by the Federal Territories Ministry and was held at Southgate Commercial Centre, which was converted into an open-air public vaccination centre (PPV). More than 90 volunteers facilitated the two-day programme and had commited to ensure smooth management and execution of the programme.
