KUALA LUMPUR: As of today, 6 April 2011 between 10.15am and 10:20am an individual was found dead at the Federal Territory Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office at Jalan Cochrane, Kuala Lumpur.

The individual who was found dead was identified as Ahmad Sarbani bin Mohamed, aged 56 years, an Assistant Director of Customs, Royal Customs Department of Malaysia, Selangor.

The MACC confirms that he was among the Customs officers arrested on April 1, 2011 at 1pm at the North Port Customs Office, Port Klang.

He was assisting in the investigation that involved in an operation "Operasi 3B"  related to offences under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.

He left the office of the Kuala Lumpur MACC office after he was released on bail at 12.30pm on Saturday, April 2, 2011.

At 8.26 am on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, he came to the MACC office on a motorcycle. He had asked to meet with the investigating officer to discuss the case against him.

Since the officers were at a meeting, he waited for them at the lobby until 9.30am. An officer then accompanied him to a room to meet the investigating officer and waited with him in the investigating officer’s room.

At about 10.15 am, the officer left the room to look for the investigating officer. When the officer returned a few minutes later, he could not be found.

After searching the office, an officer saw a body lying on the first floor of the building.

The MACC has informed the family of the deceased and the management office and handed over the matter to the police for further action.
