SINGAPORE (June 18): Roger John Barlow, who has been serving as an independent, non-executive director of M1, has passed away on June 14, the company said.

Barlow, who was 65, was chairman and founder of RJB Consultants, a Hong Kong-based consultancy for the telecommunications industry. Prior to that, he was with PCCW Limited as well as Cable & Wireless.

He was first appointed to M1’s board back in May 2002.

This year, M1 has appointed four new directors to its board. Moses Lee Kim Poo, a former senior civil servant, whose most notable appointment was the commissioner of the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore, joined the board on June 1.

On April 30, three other new independent directors joined the company’s board. They include Huang Cheng Eng, a former executive vice president of marketing regions at flag carrier SIA; Lionel Lim, long-time executive in the IT industry better known for his 22 years at Sun Microsystems and whose recent appointment was president and general manager of CA Technologies for Asia Pacific and Japan until his retirement in April 2014; Elaine Lim, an instantly recognisable name in the financial public relations industry here for her work advising more than 270 companies going for IPO, largely via Citigate Dewe Rogerson iMage.

M1 shares closed 5 cents lower at $3.20.
