Lum Chang Holdings says its unit Lum Chang Building Contractors (LCBC) has been awarded Contract 912 worth $452.4 million by the Land Transport Authority to design and construct an underground Bukit Panjang MRT station and the linked tunnels.
The latest award of Contract 912 brings the total value of construction contracts in progress for LCBC to over $1 billion.
The station which will be located along Upper Bukit Tima Road at the junction of Bukit Panjang and Choa Chua Land Road/Woodlands Road, is part of the upcoming infrastructure for Downtown Line 2 which extends north-west from Bugis to Bukit Panjang, along the Bukit Timah corridor. The station will also serve as a civil defence shelter.
Besides the station, Contract 912 also includes the building of tunnels connecting the Bukit Panjang Station to DTL2 Depot at Gali Batu.
Work on Contract 912 is expected to start in June and is targeted to complete in 2015.
Lum Chang says the project is not expected to have a material financial impact on the group’s financial year ending June 30.
The earnings from Contract 912 will be recognised progressively according to the stage of its completion, it added.
