June 20 is Father’s Day and if you have yet to find a gift, here are some practical and fun gadgets to choose from

 1  GPS or Bluetooth tracker

Is your dad a little absent-minded and prone to misplacing his keys or even his wallet? Or perhaps he tends to be paranoid about losing his laptop while having lunch at a public food court? A Bluetooth or GPS tracker would be just the thing for him. The most recent tracker to be released is the Apple AirTag, which uses the same technology as Find my iPhone, which is set to retail at RM129. There are other variations of the tracker available in the market, with some as low as RM5, depending on the range in which the device can be tracked.

 2  Digital measuring tape

Measuring tapes have become very sophisticated and accurate over the years. There are different types of digital measuring tapes in the market — including lasers to infrared to measure distances digitally. A quick check online shows that one of these devices can cost as low as RM60 and increases in price based on the tech.

 3  Body massager

Most of our fathers work hard to support their families and a day of pampering would not come amiss. Since the pandemic struck and spas are out of the question, a back, leg or neck massager may do the trick. The smallest of these devices retails from RM30.

 4  Headphones

If your dad has a tendency to play Facebook and WhatsApp videos out loud in a public space or at home, he might appreciate a set of headphones as a gift. The price of headphones is relatively reasonable nowadays, and you can find one for as low as RM50. If he uses a hearing aid, consider over-the-ear headphones instead as it is more comfortable and accommodative to the hearing aid.

5  Aluminium wallet with RFID-blocking technology

The papers are riddled with stories of fraud and cybersecurity breaches, which seems to have increased during the pandemic. So, why not get your father a gift that will protect him? And these wallets do not just safeguard your father’s bank cards; they look really stylish. Retailing from RM200, however, they do not come cheap.

6  Wet and dry electric razor

These are practical gifts for the father who is constantly grooming himself. Maybe he is fashionably bald or sporting designer stubble, but these shavers, which come with a range of functions, can take care of his needs. You do not need to break the bank, as they start from as low as RM60.

 7  Smart watch

Smart watches are not just going to make your dad feel young and cool; they will also help him keep track of his health and fitness. There are many smart watch variations in the market, where a watch of reasonable quality with good features can retail for as low as RM60.
