SINGAPORE (June 18): Ley Choon Group, the builder of underground utilities and road works, has clinched a $24.8 million contract from the Changi Airport Group to resurface its taxiways and install new LED airfield lighting.

To resurface the taxiways, Ley Choon says it will use a newly-developed asphalt premix, named HMAC PG82, developed by its own R&D team.

This premix has a higher composition of recycled aggregates but does not sacrifice quality.

It is also designed to better withstand deformation when exposed to extreme tropical weather conditions.

The premix will also come with a new formulation that provides better skid resistance.

Ley Choon says the new premix will be manufactured by the group’s recently-commissioned plant which is capable of producing 400 tons of asphalt per hour.

As at April 30, 2015, the group’s unfulfilled order book based on secured contracts stood at $184.7 million, which should keep the group busy over the next two years.

Ley Choon closed flat at 6 cents today.
