KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 11): The Kuala Selangor KPJ Specialist hospital will be fully operational within the district in two years, with Tanjung Karang set to be a potential medical hub, said Tanjung Karang Member of Parliament (MP) Tan Sri Noh Omar.
In a statement, Noh said the establishment of Tanjung Karang as a medical hub will ensure easy access to good medical care for residents in Puncak Alam, Kapar, Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam and Sungai Besar.
He added that the West Coast Expressway also facilitates the reduction of travelling time between these areas and Tanjung Karang.
The MP said the existing government hospital in Tanjung Karang lacks the modern facilities and specialists to provide better medical care and service to the public.
“With the current upgrading works on Tanjung Karang hospital and in conjunction with the development of a brand new Kuala Selangor KPJ Specialist Hospital, I strongly believe that Tanjung Karang would be able to transition itself to a medical hub and attract other business-related activities such as old folks' homes and special care homes to further boost the economic growth of the area, instead of relying solely on its agricultural sector,” said Noh.
He also commended KPJ for the development of the hospital, which would greatly benefit the community.
“For the last 25 years serving as Tanjung Karang MP, I have witnessed that Tanjung Karang mostly rely on agriculture for its economic growth till this very day.
"However, I can foresee that Tanjung Karang has great potential to be established as a medical hub for its surrounding community,” said Noh, who is also the Selangor Umno communications chairman.
