PETALING JAYA (May 7): The quintessential urban green lung KLCC Park took the limelight at EdgeProp Malaysia’s Best Managed Property Awards 2018 held here tonight.
Managed by KLCC Urusharta Sdn Bhd (KLCCUH), a subsidiary of KLCC Property Holdings Bhd, the urban park was accorded EdgeProp.my Editor's Choice — Exemplary Contribution to the Nation, recognising its commitment in keeping the 22-year-old park in pristine condition and safe for all Malaysians to enjoy.
The iconic 60-acre park at the doorsteps of the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur City Centre also took the Gold in the above 10 years specialised category, a fresh segment introduced this year to include parks, industrial property, heritage buildings, public institutions and others.
And that’s not all for KLCCUH — its office tower Menara 3 Petronas bagged Gold in the below 10 years mixed development category.
Editors of EdgeProp.my also honoured Datuk Seri Fateh Iskandar Mohamed Mansor – more fondly known as FD with the Editor’s Choice – Malaysia’s Exemplary Real Estate Industry Leader 2018 title for his contribution to the local real estate industry in general and specifically for his commitment to raising the standards of property management. FD Iskandar is the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (Rehda) president and Glomac Bhd’s group managing director and CEO.
The other Gold winners in the below 10 years division of the main awards were industrial park development Eco Business Park 1 in Johor under the specialised category and Quayside Seafront Resort Condominium in the multi-owned strata residential category. Joint Silvers in the category were the Cradleton precinct at Eco Majestic, Semenyih and The Verandah at Eco Botanic in Johor. Both are landed strata residential developments. Bronze went to luxury condominium Park Seven in Kuala Lumpur city centre, and By the Sea in Batu Ferringhi, Penang.
The Hills precinct at Horizon Hills, Johor received a Special Mention in the non-strata residential category while Menara Binjai won Silver in the below 10 years non-strata office category.
In the above 10 years multi-owned strata residential category, Mont’Kiara Palma condominium and Sri Penaga Condomium in Bangsar ended up joint Gold winners followed by Mont’Kiara Aman with Silver.
The above 10 years non-strata office category’s Gold winner was Menara Sunway while northern malls Queensbay Mall and Gurney Plaza both won Silver in the retail category (above 10 years). The former had won Silver in the inaugural awards last year.
Besides the specialised category under the anchor awards, two other new category of awards were introduced this year, namely EdgeProp Malaysia’s Responsible Developer: Building Sustainable Development Award and EdgeProp-ILAM Malaysia’s Sustainable Landscape Award, which is a collaboration between EdgeProp.my and the Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia (ILAM).
S P Setia Bhd, Paramount Property Sdn Bhd and AME Development Sdn Bhd were the inaugural winners of the EdgeProp Malaysia’s Responsible Developer: Building Sustainable Development Award, which recognises their long-term commitment and vision to building properties for best-in-class property management.
Meanwhile, EdgeProp-ILAM Malaysia’s Sustainable Landscape Award saw Damansara Uptown in Petaling Jaya and Jade Hills in Kajang grabbing Gold while Twin Arkz at Bukit Jalil took Silver and The Leafz at Sungai Besi received a Special Mention.
“A year on, I am pleased to report that EdgeProp Malaysia’s Best Managed Property Awards has not only uncovered real estate with excellent property management but, more importantly, created awareness on an urgent need for better property management practices in the country.
“This is reflected in the increased number and higher quality of submissions received,” said EdgeProp.my managing director and editor-in-chief Au Foong Yee during her speech at the awards gala dinner.
She also noted that raising the benchmark for property management requires the support of all stakeholders in the property industry, where developers, consultants, contractors, property manager and consumers have equally important roles to play.
EdgeProp Malaysia’s Best Managed Property Awards 2018 was organised in partnership with Nippon Paint Malaysia and Panasonic Malaysia
The event has the support of The Association of Property and Facility Managers, Singapore (APFM); Architect Centre Sdn Bhd; ILAM; the Building Managers Association of Malaysia (BMAM); Rehda; the Malaysian Institute of Professional Property Managers (MIPPM); and the Malaysian REIT Managers Association (MRMA).
There were 24 winners and 26 awards were given out at the awards gala dinner. Over 350 industry players attended the event held at One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya tonight.
EdgeProp Malaysia’s Best Managed Property Awards 2018 saw over 60 submissions where the call for entries began in November and ran for over a month. Entries were opened to all strata and non-strata developments, managed in-house or by any property or building manager.
The judges for this year’s anchor awards were Au, MRMA chairman Datuk Jeffrey Ng, BMAM member Dr Suntoro Tjoe, APFM president Dr Lim Lan Yuan, Chur Associates founder and managing partner Chris Tan, MIPPM president Sarkunan Subramaniam, Rehda president FD Iskandar and Architect Centre accredited architect and trainer Anthony Lee Tee.
The EdgeProp-ILAM Malaysia’s Sustainable Landscape Award 2018 judges were Au and ILAM president Associate Professor Dr Osman Mohd Tahir.
