KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 2): RHB Bank Bhd has appointed Nik Rizal Kamil Nik Ibrahim Kamil (pictured) as chief financial officer effective today. Ex-Khazanah Nasional Bhd executive director Nik Rizal Kamil takes over from Syed Ahmad Taufik Albar, who has been redesignated as head, group international business of RHB Bank, which is also known as the RHB Banking Group.

According to RHB’s Bursa Malaysia filings today, Nik Rizal Kamil, 48, was Khazanah executive director between April 2011 and January 2021.

"Prior to joining Khazanah, Nik Rizal Kamil was in various leadership positions overseeing finance, strategy, and planning within the Royal Dutch Shell Plc group of companies, having been based in the UK Singapore, and Malaysia,” RHB said.

Syed Ahmad Taufik, 48, was RHB group chief financial officer between Dec 1, 2016 and Jan 31, 2021, according to RHB.

RHB said Syed Ahmad Taufik’s appointment as head of group international business is in line with RHB's senior leadership development programme aimed at strengthening the breadth and depth of the group’s senior leadership team.

RHB Banking Group managing director Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli said in a press release attached to one of RHB’s Bursa filings that Syed Ahmad Taufik's main responsibility under his new role will be to oversee the growth and performance of RHB’s international businesses, which cover commercial, investment banking and asset management.

"He will also be overseeing the group’s commercial/corporate credit resolution functions,” Khairussaleh said.

On Nik Rizal Kamil, Khairussaleh said the former brings with him great depth of knowledge and experience in accounting, finance and strategic investments, domestically and internationally.

His appointment as group CFO will further add to the overall strength of our group senior management team,” Khairussaleh said.

On Bursa today, RHB’s share price closed unchanged at RM5.10, which values the group at about RM20.45 billion.

The stock saw some five million shares traded.
