KUALA LUMPUR: Khazanah Nasional Bhd has strengthened its senior management team with the appointments of four new executive directors and two new directors.

The government investment arm said on Friday, April 30 the four new executive directors are Joseph Dominic Silva, Mohd Izani Ashari, Datuk Noorazman Abd Aziz and Mohammed Rashdan Mohd Yusof.

Dominic was been promoted from drector of investments to executive directors of investments while Izani Ashari was promoted from director of transformation management office (TMO) to executive director, special projects at the managing director’s office. Both promotions take effect from May 1.

Noorazman and Mohammed Rashdan join Khazanah from senior positions in the financial services industry and they will assume the position of executive director of investments from May 17.

Khazanah’s current executive director and chief financial officer (CFO), Mohd Nadziruddin Mohd Basri, will take up a new role as executive director of investments from June 1. He will be succeeded by Mohd Izani Ghani, who will be promoted to director and CFO from senior vice president, finance.

It said the Khazanah leadership team will also be strengthened with the appointment of Sheranjiv Sammanthan as Director, managing director's office. Sheranjiv is currently in a senior position at a leading professional services firm in Malaysia. Both appointments are effective 1 June 2010.

"The exercise marks a further strengthening of its human capital and leadership formation and refreshes the senior management team for the start of Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar’s third term as managing director and chief executive officer starting June 1.

Khazanah said Dominic joined on Aug 1, 2008 as director of investments, leading the financial institutions sector team. He is currently a director of CIMB Niaga, Indonesia.

Prior to Khazanah, Dominic spent 18 years in the banking sector, of which 12 years were spent at ABN AMRO Bank, holding regional and international roles across the areas of relationship management, structured finance, capital markets, risk and portfolio management and strategic business development.

Before ABN AMRO Bank, Dominic worked for a major Japanese financial group in Asia within the Corporate
Finance division.

Izani Ashari joined Khazanah on April 1, 2009 as director of TMO. In his new role, he will be leading the continuing effort to drive the GLC Transformation Programme. Izani Ashari has 25 years of experience across multi-national and large companies in six different industries.

Prior to joining Khazanah, he was the general manager of special projects at Petronas Carigali, responsible for the transformation to strengthen the company and Petronas’ position in its global championship journey.

Noorazman will be joining Khazanah from Fajr Capital Ltd., where he is currently managing director and Partner. He has more than 25 years of experience in international finance, corporate banking and financial markets, and Islamic banking and finance.

His previous stints include CEO of  Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd, Group CEO of BIMB Holdings Bhd, Director General of Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority (LOFSA) as well as senior positions at Citibank Limited in Malaysia and the US.

Mohammed Rashdan was previously CEO of Maybank Investment Bank Bhd. He was formerly the managing director and co-founder of BinaFikir Sdn. Bhd. Prior to that, Mohammed Rashdan was at PricewaterhouseCoopers London and went on to become an executive director at PwC’s office in Kuala Lumpur.

Mohd Nadziruddin joined Khazanah as director and CFO in June 2007. He was later promoted to executive director, Finance. He started his career with Ernst & Young Kuala Lumpur before joining Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) in 2003.

His last position at MAS was Senior General Manager – Airport Operations. He currently sits on the boards of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd and Penerbangan Malaysia Bhd.

Izani Ghani joined Khazanah in March 2005 to spearhead funding and treasury activities. On the funding front, he was instrumental in establishing various sukuk programmes for Khazanah and issuances of landmark USD exchangeable sukuk.

Before Khazanah, he was with Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd for six years, where he was primarily in charge of fund raising activities, treasury and project payments. Izani Ghani is currently a Director on the board of Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad.

Sheranjiv is currently senior executive director at PwC Advisory Services Malaysia. He has 18 years business advisory and management consulting experience with PwC London and subsequently PwC Kuala Lumpur.
