KUALA LUMPUR (May 27): Media practitioners will receive their Covid-19 vaccination appointments from the first week of June, according to the Coordinating Minister of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Khairy Jamaluddin.

At a virtual media briefing today, he said approval had been given for media practitioners to be vaccinated as soon as possible.

“I have signed (for approval) all names of the media practitioners (for vaccination) just now,” Khairy said at a virtual briefing today.

As for those media workers who have got their AstraZeneca appointments and whether they should cancel it to join the media line, Khairy said, “My advice (is) please keep your appointments.”

Bernama reported on Tuesday, that a total of 5,687 media personnel from 114 registered media agencies will receive their Covid-19 vaccination jabs.

The decision, taken by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) was in line with the Government’s decision to give priority to the frontliners including media personnel and teachers.

Khairy said, CITF had cooperated with the Information Department, the Communications and Multimedia Industry as well as media associations in the peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak to collect names of media practitioners who have been active in the field for a period of two year, beginning May 1, 2019 to April 30 this year.
