KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 16): Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ismail has bought 2.88 million shares in convenience store operator 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd, according to the filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
The filing showed that Sultan Ibrahim bought the shares over a three-day period: one million shares on Aug 11, and 938,800 shares each on Aug 14 and Aug 15.
The ruler’s latest acquisition brings his total holdings in 7-Eleven to 96.4 million shares, equivalent to an 8.68% stake.
Based on 7-Eleven’s closing price of RM1.42 today, the Johor ruler’s stake is valued at RM136.91 million, while the convenience store operator’s market capitalisation is RM1.75 billion.
Besides 7-Eleven, which has more than 1,905 stores nationwide, Sultan Ibrahim is the second largest shareholder in Redtone International Bhd, owning a 17.92% stake.
