KUALA LUMPUR: Lembaga Tabung Haji said Datuk Johan Abdullah (pic), who has been helming the pilgrims fund board as acting chief executive officer (CEO) from May 16, will now assume the role of group managing director (MD) and CEO of the pilgrims fund.

The succession plan was previously announced when Tabung Haji said its former group MD and CEO Tan Sri Ismee Ismail would be leaving.

In a statement yesterday, Tabung Haji said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom had announced Johan’s appointment.

“Datuk Johan Abdullah succeeds Tan Sri Ismee Ismail, who completes his services at the end of June 2016 after more than 10 years tenure in TH (Tabung Haji),” Jamil said.

According to Tabung Haji’s statement, Johan joined the group in January 2015. Prior to that, he had been BIMB Holdings Bhd MD and CEO since May 2008.

Tabung Haji said Johan, who had also assumed senior roles at Bursa Malaysia Bhd, had extensive experience in Islamic and corporate finance.
