(Nov 12): Former PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa said he received an anonymous threat via his wife's mobile phone on Monday, believed to be over his continous criticism against the Kelantan state government.

"A threat came from an unknown man through a phone call and SMS to my wife's phone on Monday evening.

"The threat was meant for me," Husam said in a statement today.

He said that both of them later lodged police reports in Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur and Kota Baru police headquarters in Kelantan on the same day.

"Based on the contents of the SMS, I strongly believe the threat came about due to my criticism of the state government.

"From my six main points, three had to do with logging and farming, especially the approvals to turn forest reserve into farming areas."

Husam said despite being concerned about the threat, he would continue doing his job.

"Although I am worried about the safety of my family and myself, InsyaAllah, I will continue to perform my duty to voice out my concerns in line with what I believe in, even if my life is at stake."

He hoped that the state government would consider his remarks in a fair manner to avoid a prolonged dispute, especially in terms of the new approvals involving forest areas.

"I also hope the authorities will conduct a thorough investigation to avoid provocation or untoward incident from taking place."

When contacted yesterday, Husam had implied that he would be addressing the threat issue in a dialogue session tomorrow, but instead, decided to issue a statement today. – The Malaysian Insider
