KUALA LUMPUR (March 17): Hock Seng Lee Bhd's (HSL) consortium has bagged a wastewater management system for the Kuching city central from Sarawak state government, valued at RM750 million.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, HSL said its 75%-owned consortium Kumpulan Nishimatsu Hock Seng Lee has been awarded with the above contract by the state government, through Sewerage Service Department (SSD) of Sarawak.

The contract, it said, was for the Kuching City Central Wastewater Management System: Centralized Sewerage For Kuching City Centre (Package 2).

"The scope of works for the project includes construction and commissioning of the wastewater treatment plant, main, secondary and tertiary lines, property connections, provision of process plant and equipment, related building works, mechanical and electrical works," it said.

It added that the contract period for the completion and commissioning of the wastewater treatment plant and the sewer networks is 72 months.

HSL expects the contract to contribute positively to its earnings, during the contract period.

As of 12.30pm midday break, HSL was traded up nine sen or 4.5% at RM2.09, for a market capitalisation of RM1.12 billion.
