KUALA LUMPUR: Grab Malaysia has lowered its GrabCar fares from RM1.30 per km to RM1.10 per km in the Klang Valley for the weekends and non-rush hours on weekdays (rush hours are from 6am to 10am and 5pm to 8pm), beginning today.
“We take fare pricing seriously, with a long-term approach. With our new fare structure, Grab offers the most competitive on-demand transport service for private cars in [the] Klang Valley by providing cheaper fixed fares and higher quality of service to our passengers,” said Grab Malaysia country head Jaygan Fu in a press statement yesterday.
Fu said the revised fares in the Klang Valley are aimed to help both passengers and drivers.
“Our passengers can plan and manage their journeys better to avoid the usual rush hour and capitalise on our lower fixed fare, so they can do away with the hassle of driving around looking for parking space and paying parking fees when going out for meetings, shopping or just heading out for lunch.
“So regardless of traffic conditions, they are guaranteed a safe, convenient, comfortable and most importantly, pocket-friendly fixed fare,” said Fu.
With their reduced fixed fare, a ride to or from Bangsar and KLCC is now RM11, compared with other ride-hailing services, which may charge between RM12 and RM17. A ride to and from Bandar Utama and Pavillion is now RM17 during non-rush hour, and Zouk to and from TTDI is now only RM18, Fu added.
He said the reduced fares benefit part-time drivers, who are mainly working professionals who tend to drive more during rush hours and on weekends, by helping them earn more.
