SINGAPORE (June 27): Global Logistic Properties has signed new leases for 2.3 million sf of logistics space in Japan, with four leading companies.

ASKUL, an e-commerce company, has leased 1.6 million sq ft of space at GLP Suita, Greater Osaka, making it ASKUL’s largest logistics centre in Japan. Following this lease, GLP Suita is now 100% pre-leased a year ahead of its completion.

Locondo, an e-commerce company selling apparel and shoes, leased 366,000 sf at GLP Yachiyo, Greater Tokyo, while Kato Sangyo, a food wholesale company, leased 215,000 sq ft of t space at GLP Tomiya, Sendai.

In the last lease, an e-commerce company leased 140,000 sf at GLP Naruohama, Greater Osaka.

GLP says that domestic consumption in Japan remains strong and the group continues to see demand from the e-commerce and food industries.

GLP shares closed lower at $1.75 on Monday.
