KUALA LUMPUR (April 15): PKR's Investment and Trade Bureau chief Wong Chen said he will serve the Kelana Jaya parliamentary constituency better than the outgoing MP if elected in GE13.

"I am ready to work. I am ready to go on the ground to rally the troops," he said shortly after PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim named him as the candidate last night.

Chen declined to comment on allegations that the incumbent MP, Loh Gwo Burne, was an inactive lawmaker.

"Well, I think the issue is whether he has performed in parliament. I hope to perform much better if anything. No disrespect to Gwo Burne.

"Back in 2008, he was the best available candidate that we have and I think the party has moved on.

"We are now fielding a different crop of candidates," he told reporters at the AU2 football field where Anwar announced the names of PKR's candidates for seats in Selangor.

Loh is known for his video recording in 2007 of a conversation involving lawyer Datuk VK Lingam allegedly interfering in the appointment of judges.

The video earned him the parliamentary seat in 2008 where he defeated MCA's Datuk Lee Hwa Beng by 5,031 votes.

However Loh has been criticised by residents and party members for disappearing and not serving his constituency.

Chen, however, was hopeful that Loh would help campaign for PKR despite being dropped.

"I want to thank Loh Gwo Burne for serving the constituency and I hope he will assist us in our campaign," he said.

"I think it is a winnable seat because we won in 2008... There will be challenges. It is predominantly a middle class area and I think I can send the right message and win," he added.
