IPOH (May 2): PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has warned of possible electoral fraud come polling day on Sunday.

Relating her experience in the 2004 general election, Wan Azizah said she almost lost the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat due to such an event.

She said in 2007, someone confessed of his involvement in throwing her votes away, but when questioned about the confession after her speech, Wan Azizah refused to divulge details saying it was told to her privately.

Addressing some 100 people at Taman Kledang Jaya this afternoon, the wife of Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said she won in the first count.

However, her opponent Datuk Pirdaus Ismail asked for a recount. That night, the ballot boxes were kept in the counting centre, guarded by their supporters.

Wan Azizah said despite being told the CCTVs would record any movement in the counting centre, in an election petition against her, the court was informed that the CCTV did not film anything.

"Don't trust what is said to you. You must look after all the ballot boxes," she said, while holding her blue fan.

In 2004, Wan Azizah defeated Pirdaus by 590 votes.

She also mocked the Election Commission's (EC) explanation on the indelible ink issue in which it claimed the officer had not shaken the bottle before using the ink.

Wan Azizah also took note of the 2008 indelible ink incident when millions had been spent to buy the ink but it was not used as the police said they received a report that another party purchased the ink as well.

She said if Anwar did not win this time around, it would still be okay as this was their test.

Wan Azizah raised the issue of Anwar's sex video firmly saying: "That is not Anwar's tummy! This is all slander."

She slammed the sex video tactic in used to slander one's opponent and urged candidates to debate on the direction of the country instead.

Silibin was Wan Azizah's second stop for her day-long programme up north. Earlier, she was in Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar.

Most of today's attendees were Pakatan members and supporters from Tambun.
