KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 3): Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) on Thursday (Nov 3) unveiled all its 31 candidates for parliamentary seats in the state, with three caretaker ministers contesting, in the 15th general election (GE15).

Caretaker Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri will be contesting the Santubong seat, whose recent Member of Parliament (MP) was caretaker Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

Fellow party member Wan Junaidi, who will not be seeking re-election, has retained the Santubong seat since 2004. On the other hand, Nancy has been the Batang Sadong MP since 2008.

Caretaker Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is a senior vice-president of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), a component party of GPS, will be defending his Petra Jaya seat. 

Meanwhile, caretaker Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi is defending his Kapit seat. 

Two caretaker deputy ministers will be defending their seats, namely Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Henry Sum Agong in Lawas, and Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Willie Mongin in Puncak Borneo.

Willie Mongin won Puncak Borneo in the GE14 under PKR’s ticket. 

GPS, a coalition of four parties including PBB, Sarawak United Peoples' Party, Parti Rakyat Sarawak, and the Progressive Democratic Party, held 19 out of 31 parliamentary seats in Sarawak before the dissolution of Parliament on Oct 10. 

Nomination for the GE15 falls on Nov 5, a Saturday, following by early voting on Nov 15, and nationwide polling on Nov 19.
