KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 23): RHB Bank Bhd has appointed former UEM Group Bhd chief financial officer (CFO) Tuan Syed Ahmad Taufik Albar as its new CFO, with effect from Dec 1.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, RHB said Ahmad Taufik, 43, will replace the bank’s current CFO, Yap Choi Foong, who is resigning with effect from Dec 1 to pursue other opportunities.

Taufik was the CFO of UEM from Nov 2013 to October this year. Prior to that, he held the position of CFO of Smart Axiata (Latelz Co Ltd) Cambodia from July to October 2013, and was also the senior vice president and corporate controller of Celcom Axiata Bhd from July 2011 to June 2013.

Yap, 52, joined RHB in 2003 as the general manager of corporate finance. She has held various positions within the group — as head of corporate and strategic planning, head of central finance, group financial controller, as well as head of investor relations and merger & acquisition integration — prior to her appointment as group CFO.

At noon market close today, RHB shares were down 6 sen (1.3%) to RM4.64, for a market capitalisation of RM18.6 billion.
