Treat dad to a meal featuring the rare Sarawak Empurau fish, also known as Wang Bu Liao (“forget-me-not” in Chinese). Usually fetching a price as high as $1,600 per kg for its smooth and milky texture, this fish garnered a huge following after being featured in the popular Hong Kong God of Cookery TV show.
Restaurant Home is offering this dish at an affordable price on two of its Father’s Day menus. The Gratitude Set Menu, $80.80+ per person, for a minimum table of four, serves the Baked Empurau Fish in Claypot with the chef’s signature sauce. In the Dedication Set Menu at $1,188+ for a table of 10, it is served as Stewed Empurau Fillet with Dried Pomelo Skin and Porridge Soup (below). Other dishes on the set menus include Barbecued Duck with Lychee Wood and Homemade Egg Bean Curd with Shrimp Paste, Crabmeat and Roe in Pi Pa style.
